Should I Write Cozy Mysteries… or Memoirs?
About five years ago, on my birthday, I began writing a cozy mystery. It became the first of a trilogy, each one taking me something under a year. Actually I had ideas for more plots in the series and was thinking of doing at least five books. Who knows? I still could go back to that, but I did get tired of concentrating on murder and who did it, even though cozies are much lighter than other mysteries.
I began to think I’d rather do my memoirs as a series, and that is what I’m doing now. Making much less income from them so far but I do feel I am contributing something to the world that nobody else could. We have pretty much enough money for daily life, so that’s good enough for now. And I do think that my third memoir, about how being an LSD research subject affected my life, will have more general interest.
And what do I read for fun? Memoirs more than any sort of fiction!
So I rest my case. There are other things I can do online for income if it comes to a pinch. Back to the memoirs. Let’s see, I want to revise chapter 3 of that book today…
