I’m about to start writing my memoir about the time I was a LSD research subject. It was 1964, just days after I graduated from Stanford, and it changed my life tremendously. I learned about the research project from Bill Harman, who taught a course I took that spring on the human potential. I wonder if he invented that term. Anyway, he was also involved in the research project. He provided us with research papers on the beneficial effects of the psychedelic, and I mailed those to my mother. She gave me the $350 (in 1964 dollars!) it would cost, and I have been forever grateful to her for that.
Right now, I am reading old journals, looking for comments I made later. The past few days I’ve been reading my 1973 journal and I have found a lot of material for a later memoir which has the working title of “I Fell in Love with a Hippie.” But so far, nothing specific about the effects of LSD years later. Of couse, I know some of them!
